Important New Guide for People with Learning Disabilities, Their Families and Carers |
|||
Valuing People Now said that housing is one of the four big priorities. However for many families it's just a big puzzle. The Valuing People Support Team have just published a new guide called Finding a Place to Live. The guide is available as either an interactive CD Rom for your computer or as a paper copy. See below for information on how to obtain a copies. Finding housing can be difficult so the Finding a Place to Live guide tries to give information as simply as possible. The guide is written by people who have learnt from first hand experience. It includes pages to fill in with your personal wants and wishes, helping to build a plan and how to make it all work. It also points to other sources of information such as the Housing Options website. It is evidently not an easy matter to find your place to live, but the short version of the guide says 1. What about having your own home The guide helps people to find their way through the maze of housing and support and ultimately, we hope, with some hard work, effort and a little help from your friends, family or others, it is possible to get your own place to live.
