The Housing and Regeneration Bill

The Housing and Regeneration Bill - this latest piece of housing legislation is going through Parliament.

It will make various changes, primarily promising to build 3 million new homes and providing £8 billion for affordable homes. It will also set up the Homes and Community Agencies to supersede the Housing Corporation, and an official body called 'Oftenant', which will be a watchdog over social landlords.

It will remove the barriers which prevent councils building their own social housing, and will offer new plans for managing estates and troublesome tenants. Read more.
