State of Social Care in England

The CSCI's 3rd annual report on the State of Social Care, which gives a comprehensive overview of the social care sector in England, tells us very much the same thing that callers to Housing Options say.

There is a deep divide between people who are eligibile for services from the council and those who aren't. CSCI see some improvements in the delivery of council services, e.g Direct Payments, Individualised Budgets, but for those outside the system there awaits the possibility of a poor quality of life.

Outcomes for these people are not monitored, and CSCI found many people with no satisfactory answers to their problems.
CSCI has been asked to research the varying effects of eligibility criteria for services.
