Your Place to Live
"Your Place to Live" is a system designed to show
the range of housing and support options for people with learning
disabilities.
The printed version of the manual gives basic information
about each option and then signposts to organisations and
services that can provide further help and information. It
then has a section to assist decision making and planning.
The manual is designed so that the individual and carer can,
if they want, make their own assessments of housing and support
need and do their own research on options available.
Alternatively, there is a CD version that contains all the
pages you need to make a manual. This will be particularly
useful for organisations who wish to produce multiple copies.
The CD can also be tailored to produce a local version with
appropriate contacts and information sources.
The video shows six people with learning disabilities who
have found their own places to live. This is a useful tool
to explore housing and support options with people with learning
disabilities, carers and staff.
