Cinny rents from a housing association

Cinny lives in a house that she rents from a housing association. Cinny applied for the house on the council housing register. It is a 2 bedroom house so that a carer can stay overnight.


Cinny chose to move in to her own home


Cinny lived with her Mum until she was 30. She brought a questionaire home from her day service asking her about where she wants to live. This is how Cinny’s Mum found out that Cinny wanted her own place.


Cinny chooses her own staff


It was difficult getting the right staff to begin with. They used an agency and some people left and some were not very good. Now Cinny has a Direct Payment and employs her own staff. She can now choose the staff and it is better.


Cinny is proud to have her own home


Cinny is proud to have her own home. She is getting more and more independent. Cinny has kept going to her day service and seeing friends locally. She is a talented artist. Cinny’s story is in the video "Your Place to Live".
