Most support is paid for or provided by Social Services or the NHS so this is usually the best place to start.

Social Services will tell you if you are eligible for their services. There is something called Fair Access to Care that will help you to know more about whether you are likely to be eligible.

Housing Support can be paid for by Supporting People grant so you can talk directly to Supporting People to ask for support if Social Services don't.

You can talk directly to support providers to find out about their services but Social Services and Supporting People will still make the decision about whether they want to buy that service for you.

Social Services can give you the money to organise and pay for your own support. This is called a Direct Payment.

The Independent Living Fund may be able to pay for some of your support if you are getting DLA high rate care component and getting some services from social services.

Housing Benefit may pay for some assistive technology that is connected to your home.

You can pay for things like a cleaner or home help or meals on wheels out of your own income.
